Where Music, Cinema and Emotion Meet
About Francesco Ferrari
Francesco Ferrari is a contemporary Italian painter and sculptor living and working in Montefiascone, Lazio. His expressive works combine powerful brushwork and sculptural intensity with deep emotional resonance. Rooted in the Italian cultural tradition, his art repeatedly explores the themes of cinema, jazz, speed, and the human condition.
Artistic Development
Early Years and Formation Born in Piacenza, Francesco Ferrari studied at the Istituto d’Arte “F. Gazzola” and later at the Accademia di Belle Arti “P. Toschi” in Parma. He deepened his sculptural training in Milan under the guidance of the legendary sculptor Marino Marini at the Accademia di Brera. These formative years shaped his distinctive, energetic style that blends painting and sculpture.
2016 – The Breakthrough: Cinema Portraits Francesco Ferrari first gained wider recognition in 2016 with his solo exhibition Grandi registi del cinema at the Est Film Festival in Montefiascone. The series of large-scale portraits dedicated to legendary film directors became an immediate success and was exhibited in the historic Carceri Papaline. During this period he also met and portrayed the well-known actor and director Carlo Verdone.
2019–2020 – Symbolism and Contemporary Reflection In 2019 he created the commemorative work Per non dimenticare. In 2020, during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Ferrari produced one of his most powerful symbolic pieces: the sculpture Nike contro il virus. At the same time he developed his Mille Miglia series, which captures the passion, movement, and Italian motor sport heritage.
2022–2023 – Jazz and Further Recognition The years 2022 and 2023 marked another important phase with the Solo Jazz exhibition in Orvieto and additional presentations of his cinema and jazz works. His paintings and sculptures received increasing attention in the regional press of Lazio, Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna, including features in Italia Oggi and Piacenza Sera.
Today, Francesco Ferrari continues to work from his studio in Montefiascone. His constantly growing body of work is characterized by a unique fusion of expressive power, cultural memory, and emotional depth.
